Feeling sensitive? Protect your energy in 4 steps 🙅 💫

Hi Beauty!

Are you a sensitive person? What I mean is, do you feel other people’s energy and emotional states very easily? Do you get affected easily by certain TV shows or the news?

I know I definitely do.

I have been very sensitive to the energy around me for as long as I can remember. For most of my life, this aspect of myself was very painful and it held me back from pursuing my passions.

Since it is so easy for sensitive people to pick up the energy of who's around them. When others feel anxious, scared, sad, or annoyed… so do they and it can be completely overwhelming and exhausting.

Here’s one positive thing… I really believe that once you learn some strategies to protect your energy, being a highly sensitive person can be a superpower.

This is why it is so important to learn how to create energetic boundaries to protect yourself from energy and emotions that do not belong to you so you can be healthier, happier, more productive, and more successful.

Below are 4 techniques I use every day to protect my energy and vibration. (These are great for you even if you are not a highly sensitive person.)

4 Simple Steps to Protect Your Energy

1. Wear Different Hats

Different events and instances require different versions of you. When I am with my one on one coaching clients my energy field is wide open. It’s so important for me to be open to and feel their energy as well as to receive the downloads from the universe I am send for them.

My boundaries are much different when I go to networking events or go out to dinner. During these times my energy is more bubbled up (you’ll learn about this in step 2.)

This doesn't mean that I am closed off emotionally, I still set the intention to be a beacon of light and love to everyone in the room I just make sure I am not an open channel to accept in other people's energy. Basically I make sure to put on my "light and love" but protected “hat” so that I don’t accidentally take on other people's energy.

In last week’s blog we discussed the power of intention, Setting intentions is scientifically proven to work in many different aspects of life. This is yet another instance where intention setting is very powerful.

2. Bubble Yourself Up
If you believe in a higher power, angels, or the universe this one's for you. What I like to do is ask the Divine (God, Source, Spirit, The Universe, Guardian Angels) to put a bubble of protection around me.

I envision this bubble like a Teflon coating. Positivity can come in but negative cannot. Another thing you can do is fill your bubble up with pure light and love or your favorite calming color. I also like to surround my home and loved ones in my bubble too.

3. If it's Not a Hell Yes, It’s a Hell No
There is absolutely nothing more important than how you feel. If it doesn't feel good it is important to say no. I totally understand this is easier said than done. For many people saying no is very difficult. When you are learning to allow this to become an easier process for you it can be great to ask yourself a few questions.

One of the #1 questions my clients ask me is, “How do I know the difference between my intuition/soul and fear?” Such a great question! The truth is, at first, this can be a bit difficult to do, however, with practice it gets easier and easier.

I have 2 simple strategies you can use to figure out if something is a hell yes, or a hell no to your soul.

#1- Fear is like a scream while your soul is like a whisper. Take the time to quiet your mind with meditation, alone time, while moving your body, or spending time in nature to quiet the voice of the ego (the fear-based self) so you can hear your soul speak.

#2- Journal it out. Take time to write out how you feel. How does saying no affect your life? How would saying yes affect your life? Let yourself be very honest and feel free to let your deepest thoughts and emotions out (you can always burn it after!)

Are you afraid to hurt someone’s feelings? Are you afraid you might mess up? Are you afraid of judgment? If any thoughts like this come up, you know the ego (fear) is in the driver's seat.

4. Give Back Energy to Its Rightful Owner (and get yours back)
This next one is something I learned from Gabrielle Bernstein (the author of the Universe Has Your Back and many others) but I made it my own.

The prayer or intention below is something I use daily and sometimes multiple times a day depending on how many people I am around or where I go.

This is why it’s so important to take radical responsibility for your vibrational energy and the frequency to are emitting into the world because it directly affects what you attract into your reality.

Here is something that is imperative for you to understand… There is nothing more important than how you feel. Nothing.

Even if you are dressed beautifully, are well-spoken, with a huge smile on your face, if your energy doesn't match your outside, other people (and the universe) will feel the truth.

So how the heck do you raise your vibration? Below are some tips can do to start moving towards high vibes today.

How To Raise Your Vibration in 4 Simple Steps


Tip #1: Be Aware of Energy “Red Flags”
As I said before, there is nothing, I repeat nothing, more important than how you feel. Many of us are so used to feeling out of alignment and in lack and limitation that we don't even know when we are feeling low vibe.

Next time you feel yourself becoming sad, anxious, scared, paralyzed to move forward, jealous, or like you just can’t do it (whatever “it” is for you), I want you to view it as a red flag that you need to realign yourself with the truth of who you really are… a Divine creator.

Basically what you have to do is throw a wrench into the looping thoughts and beliefs in your subconscious mind. One of the ways you can do that is by giving yourself the time and space to explore how you feel.

Take out a journal and write out your negative looping thoughts then next to the negative thought or belief write out a positive statement (aka the truth.)

Once you get the positive statements clear on paper you can start repeating them every time the opposite negative thought pops up.

Tip #2: Set the Right Intention Several Times a Day
This sounds like such a simple thing but the research shows that our intentions are much more powerful than we think.

In the book, The Intention Experiment, by Lynne McTaggart, William A. Tiller, a professor Stanford University states, “For the last 400 years, an unstated assumption of science is that human intention cannot affect what we call physical reality. Our experimental research of the past decade shows that, for today’s world and under the right conditions, this assumption is no longer correct.”

As you can see, intention setting is very powerful and the best part is, it is easy to implement into your daily routine. Set daily intentions about what you will and won’t allow to run on autopilot in your subconscious mind each day.

Below are some examples of intentions you can set for your day:

  • Today I will choose to believe that I was put on this earth to receive greatly.

  • Today I will choose to believe that I am self-confident, capable, and worthy.

  • I am ready willing and able to take divinely guided action towards my dreams.

  • Today I will choose to believe I am strong enough, smart enough, and handle adversity well.

  • Today I will choose to believe that obstacles are actually roadblocks veering me in the right direction.

  • Today I will allow it all to be easy.

Because these intentions basically allow your soul to speak the truth, it raises your vibration immensely. Allowing you to reconnect to your authentic self… pure love and light.

Tip #3: Step Away and Realign
Sometimes the best thing you can do to increase your vibration is to completely step away from a situation to reset your energy. I have found that nothing can change your mood and mindset quicker than getting into nature.

Fresh air, trees, grass, sand, water, sunshine, rain… all of it is so healing. When you are able to get outside, take your shoes off, ground yourself into the earth and allow the healing energy of the earth to move through your body, it instantly raises your vibration.

Now let's say you are in a place or moment where you cannot get outside. Hideaway in a bathroom stall or in the shower close your eyes and take abig deep breath in count to 10 and let it out slowly. Do this as many times as you can in the time you have.

Deep breathing is a powerful tool because it helps to reset your nervous system which brings your breathing rate, heart rate, and hormone levels back to a calm state. Deep breathing is also something you can do anyplace, anywhere, anytime, even right in the middle of a tough conversation.

#4 Hire a Qualified Coach
While the strategies above will 100% help you, the absolute quickest way to raise your vibration and become a manifesting machine is tohire a highly qualified mindset coach. Sometimes the negative beliefs and thoughts that are causing the low vibrations in our energy field run deep and need a bit more digging and higher-level strategies you fully transmute.

Get Better Not Bitter Like a World Champion 💪🔥

Hey Beauty!

Want to learn a little known fact about me? I love to watch Mixed Martial Arts (MMA). Crazy right? lol (Stick with me to the end, I promise I have a point to telling you this.)

When it comes to MMA, I don't view it as a violent sport like most people do. I instead see the tireless dedication, training, and effort these athletes put in.

Most of them have been training in martial arts since they were little children sacrificing tons along the way.

Many also hold black belts in multiple forms of martial arts (most people won't ever earn one black belt let alone multiple!) as well as multiple world championship titles in different organizations and sports.

Many are even Olympic athletes and medalists, such as: Rhonda Rousey, Daniel Cormier, and gold medalist Henry Cejudo (who this post is about!

That is his gold medal around his neck on the gold chain in the image below.)

I spent my Saturday night watching Henry Cejudo fight for his 2nd world championship title, which he won. So now, along with being a gold medalist, he also holds 2 world championship belts in 2 different weight classes in the UFC (a VERY big deal).

This is why I am telling you his story... His mindset is impeccable!

There have been countless times the odds were stacked against. him. Countless times people made fun of him, judged him, and told him he would fail.

Saturday night he actually lost the first round, getting beaten up pretty badly. Most of us would have quit. Most of us would have let that losing the first round make us think we aren't good enough, are going to lose and that we should give up.

Here is a fact, most of us do not do well with adversity.

This is the difference between the mindset of a gold medalist, world champion and most other people... they don't give up when the going gets tough. They don't give up when things get really, really, REALLY hard. They don't give up when the naysayers say they will lose.

Most of us want to crawl into a ball and bury our head in the sand when we get judged or told we will fail, but not them.

They don't get bitter, instead, they get better!

After the fight on Saturday night, a commentator asked Henry what he was thinking after losing the first round. He said the whole time he was losing he was taking notes on how to win in the next round, and that is exactly what he did.

Imagine how different our lives and businesses would be if we did that instead of beating ourselves up when we are "losing" or otherwise not getting the sales, traction, results, or support we want?

Can we all say GAMECHANGER?

Next time you find yourself in adversity (business not going well, friends and family not supporting you, learning something new that is hard) remind yourself that there is another round coming and it is your choice to take the learnings from the "losing" round so you can implement them into the next round.

I'm Grateful for No Electricity or Running Water?? 😱 Here's Why...

Hello Beautiful Friend!

I am currently in my 2nd home, Casco Viejo, Panama. I have have been here many times before, however, this time is different. My 2 furry daughters, Sophie and Ellie, are here with me too!

They did so well on the flight. Below is a photo of all of us just before we boarded. :)

We arrived late last Wednesday so I spend the next few days getting the girls settled into their new home and getting all of us unpacked.

Did I mention Andy can't walk?? He hurt his foot and ankle chasing a robber barefoot on concrete (that is a story for another day... will tell it soon) So I have had to do everything since he can't put any weight on his foot (poor thing!)

Needless to say, when Sunday rolled around I was soooooo ready for a rest and relaxation day BUT, the universe had other plans for me!

Around 5am we noticed the fan in our bedroom had stopped (when you are in sweaty Central America you definitely notice right away!)

Then after we got up, we noticed the water was out too!

Needless to say, a bit of a wrench was thrown into my rest and relaxation day.

The lack of water and electricity lasted for about 12 hours so I instead spent my day running around town, by myself, lugging gallons of water (up 3 flights of stairs!) in the sweltering heat and running to the hotel next door to charge our phones and use their wifi.

I was so annoyed and even shed a tear or two.

Then, the water and electricity finally came back on and I felt a sense of DEEP gratitude. I have never been so happy to take a freezing cold 5-minute shower in my life.

LIfe is all about contrast! If you never go without certain things, you lose your gratitude for them.

Gratitude is one of the highest vibrations you can feel and high vibrational energy makes you a manifesting magnet, therefore, I am now grateful I experienced that hell of a day!

Social Media is a Liar ✨Proof Inside✨

Have you ever found yourself scrolling through Instagram and Facebook playing the comparison game?

Thinking things like:

- I wish I looked like that.
- Her skin is perfect.
- I wish I had her wardrobe.
- I wish I could travel as much as her.
- Her family looks so much happier than mine.
- I wish I had a husband/boyfriend/partner like hers.
- I wish I made as much money as her.

Only to then feel bad about yourself, your life, your body... etc?

I get it, I have totally been there too.

Yesterday I found something on Instagram that was so empowering I wanted to share it with all of you. A woman named Sarah Nicole Landry, AKA @thebirdspapaya on IG, posted pictures that show how we cannot judge a book by its cover ESPECIALLY on social media.

We always have to remember that 99.9% of the time social media is a highlight reel of people's best days, best moments, in the best lighting, with the best pose, in the best locations, in the cleanest spot in their homes, while their kids are their best behaved, and their partners are being their "kindest" selves.

As Sarah says in the post above, it is so important not to let someone else's posted image skew your confidence in your own image.

When you find yourself start to fall into the comparison trap online remind yourself of Sarah's insights here as well as the Theodore Roosevelt quote from above, "Comparison is the thief of joy."

Ever Feel Misunderstood or Judged? Here's the Truth 💫

Hi Gorgeous Queen, 

Have you ever felt misunderstood, before you’ve even spoken? Kind of like you’re under a microscope at all times? Like you have to choose your words so wisely so you don't offend anyone or look stupid?

I used to feel like that ALL THE TIME and it was so uncomfortable. Because I felt so uncomfortable I used to silence myself and hold myself back in so many ways.

I had a deep-rooted fear of what others would think of me. I would often worry, “What if they misunderstand me?”, “What if they hate me or judge me?”, "What if they laugh at me?", "What if I make someone mad or upset?"

Even worse, there were times when I would get brave enough to speak my truth about certain spiritual beliefs and mindset techniques, that I knew could help others, only to have people make fun of me online and roll their eyes at me in person. (This was devastating at the time but now I find it so funny because I understand I totally created this reality lol) 

If you ever feel this way or if this has ever happened to you, it is important for you to know the truth.

Here's the truth...as long as what you say comes from a place of LOVE you have the right to say whatever is on your heart. It’s all about the intention. If your intention is pure and good, then you can not cause any harm. 

The hard part is understanding that the other people in your life and online might not be in the right place to feel your love and caring. They might not be in the right place to fully understand your words. (Cool thing is, in my experience, they always do eventually, even if it takes years.) 

You are not in control of how your words are taken. You are in control of how you say them, your intention behind them, and how you handle the response you receive back... even when it’s not the response you’d hoped for.

Thomas Edison's Balls?! ✨Secret to Manifesting✨

Good Morning Beauty, 

Bet you didn't think you'd be learning about Thomas Edison's BALLS today! lol. 

A few months ago, Andy and I went to the Ford and Edison Winter Estate in Fort Myers, Florida. 

On the Edison side of the estate, besides the beautiful home, museum, and huge laboratory, there was a life-size statue of Thomas Edison. 

When I looked at the statue I noticed he had big silver balls in his hand. (see the image below.)

Luckily, we had opted to pay for the guided tour so I was able to ask our guide why the statue had balls in its hand. 

The tour guide explained to us that holding these balls was one of the crazy ways Thomas Edison had come up with to enhance his brain power. 

By the time he was 84 he already had over $1,000 patents! So it makes sense that brain optimization was something he was into. 

What the tour guide didn't know is that his ball tactic wasn't crazy at all. From a science perspective, it makes perfect sense! 

In the video below I explain how holding these silver ball bearings helped Thomas Edison come up with his most famous inventions, like the incandescent light bulb.

You Are Different, Here's Why 💫

Good Morning Queen, 

Today I want to tell you why you are different than the vast majority of the population. All the others who do not understand what powerful creators they are. 

Most people believe the negative thoughts they think about how unworthy they are, about how they aren't capable, about how they don't deserve to receive greatly in life, about how they will always suffer.... are true. 

This is something I understand so well. I lived most of my life believing theseFEAR based thoughts:

-Evidence
-Appearing
-Real 

Then one day I finally got sick of that life, discovered how to change my mindset, and up-leveled my whole entire life. With this new found knowledge I began to help other women do the exact same thing in their lives too.

Sometimes our negative thoughts are rooted down so deep in the subconscious mind that we actually believe they are true even when they aren’t.

Believe it or not, if you are unhappy, it’s actually easier to stay that way than it is to change. To keep believing the same untrue beliefs. To keep believing you aren’t good enough. To stay stuck. To blame, criticize, and judge yourself and others.

That’s why most people stay stuck in lack and limitation forever.

That’s why you are different.

You are the type of person who takes massive action. You are the type of person who says enough is enough. You are the type of person who is so sick of hearing herself complain.

You understand your worth and you’re willing to fight for it. You’re willing to get help because you understand the vibration of the world depends on it. When you rise, everyone and everything around you rises too 

You are ready to step into your Queen version. You don’t have to ask ANYONE for permission. You do what you know you need to do to get to your next best place. Your heart, soul, and intuition tell you when it is time to move, not anyone else.

In last weeks blog, we learned that 90% of people who set goals and resolutions for the New Year have completely abandoned them by April.

I wanted to unpack this a bit more this week to figure out why this is the case. I really believe knowledge is power.

As the late great Maya Angelou once said, “When you know better, you do better.”

It is time to harness the magic that 2019 has to offer you! There's still so much time left to make this year amazing. 

I believe the #1 reason people give up on their goals is because they have repetitive negative thoughts and beliefs looping in their subconscious mind telling them why success isn't possible for them. 

Basically, deep in the subconscious mind, (so deep you don’t even know it's happening) there is a deeply ingrained belief you can't do it (whatever “it” is), that it’s impossible, that you are not capable, and that you might as well give up. 

Thoughts like:

- I’m too old
- I’m too fat
- Not good enough
- Not pretty enough
- Not smart enough
- Don’t have the right certification or degree
- Not talented enough
- Not rich enough 
- I’m too broke
- I can’t afford it
- I’m not strong enough 
- I can’t handle it
- I’ll do it next year (I’ll do it when the time is right)

This list goes on and on and on. 

Now that we have all of that out of that crap out of the way, I want to tell you the truth… 

You were meant for greatness! No matter what your goals are, you can do it despite what your subconscious mind has to say. 

Here’s the cool thing, you don’t have to hustle, struggle, or change anything about yourself physically in order to succeed. What you have to do instead is clean up what’s happening in your mind.

The key to changing your thoughts and beliefs is to consciously cultivate positive thoughts, words, and phrases that you repeat every single day.  

If you do this enough, over time, it will obliterate the negative beliefs, thoughts, and self-talk that are holding you back from succeeding at your big dreams.

9. I am committed to my happiness and success.

12. I understand that I am a powerful manifester. My thoughts create my reality so I choose them wisely.

13. I practice gratitude everyday for all that I have, for who I am, and for what I am capable of.

14. I understand that life isn’t linear. Without the lows, the highs wouldn't’ feel as sweet. I accept and respect both.

15. I say yes to my life and to all the opportunities that can expand my growth. Even when they seem scary or like I can’t do it, I check in with my soul and then say yes.

Read these out loud every morning before you start your day. You can also record yourself saying them into the recorder on your phone and listen to the track a few times a day. If you enjoy journalling, write down these intentions daily. (I like to do all 3, sometimes on the same day and other days I only do 1 or 2 methods.)

How to Visualize for Success: 3 Steps and a Case Study

Good Morning Gorgeous!

Can you believe it's already April? The 2nd quarter of the year is in full swing and it is time to recommit to the goals you set for yourself at the beginning of the year. 

Research shows that by now, 90% of those who set goals for the New Year have quit. 

Where are you with your goals, hopes, wishes, and dreams?

Do you feel stuck doing the same old thing you were doing in 2018? 

If so, here’s the cool thing, there is still plenty of time to turn this ship around. 

It's time to take your power back. 

One super simple strategy you can use to improve your life tremendously while also getting you closer to reaching your goals (no matter how big they are!) is visualization. 

Visualization is also referred to as "mental rehearsal" because you are literally rehearsing the life you want to have. Only instead of rehearsing it in real life, you are rehearsing it in your mind. 

If you are thinking right now, "How the heck is rehearsing something in my head going to help me in real life??"

I get it. For a long time, I thought visualization was a load of crap too. Boy, was I wrong!

The truth is, the highest level players in sports, business, and even the military have been using visualization to give them an edge over their competition for years.

You don't have to take my word for it though. Check out the science-based study below to hear how powerful visualization is and how it can change your life and even your body! (without lifting a finger!!)

A study published in the scientific journal Neurophysiology demonstrated how powerful mental rehearsal really is. 

In this study 3 groups of people were tested:

  1. The 1st group was asked to do specific finger exercises on their left hand for 1 hour, 5 days a week for 4 weeks. 

  2. The 2nd group was told to mentally rehearse the same exact exercises for the same amount of time as the first group. Again, this didn't happen physically only mentally through visualization. 

  3. The 3rd group was the control group so they not exercise physically or mentally. 

At the end of the 4 weeks, scientists measured the finger strength of each group. The 1st group, who exercised physically (in real life) had 30% greater finger strength than the control group (who did nothing.)

Get this, when the scientists measured the 2nd group's strength they found that they had gained a 22% increase in muscle strength when compared to the control group. And they didn't even lift a finger! 

This proves how powerful our mind is and particularly how powerful visualization is for achieving your goals. A cascade of complicated neurological and hormonal events take place in your brain and body when you visualize. 

This can work in both good and bad ways depending on what you visualize and think about most. 

If you think negative thoughts and visualize yourself failing... guess what is going to happen in real life? This is why it is so important to choose your thoughts and visualizations wisely! 


 How to Visualize for Success


Step 1: Get clear on what you want to achieve. Like crystal clear. Sit down with your journal and write out your absolute dream life. Make sure to include who is there, what it looks, like, smells like, sounds like, tastes like, and most importantly, how you FEEL.

Step 2: Block time into your daily schedule to solely focus on and visualize what you are wanting to bring into your reality. Make sure you are in a safe place where you can really allow yourself to get lost in the emotion and excitement of your dream life. You need to really feel like it happening in real life. 

Step 3: Change the thoughts you think throughout the day. Now you understand how powerful your mind is, you can understand how hurtful negative looping thoughts can be. Often times we think thoughts like "I am not good enough", "I will never achieve X, Y, or Z.", (the list goes on and on) It is critically important that you do whatever it takes to change these thoughts. 

One way you can do this is by listening to and repeating positive affirmations. You can download a positive affirmations MP3 off my website RIGHT HERE for free.

You can also write positive affirmations on sticky notes and put them all over your house and car. Repeat them often but especially when the negative thoughts begin to pop up. 

TIP: Just know that visualization can be hard for some people at first. It is called a practice because it takes practice. GIve it time and dedicate yourself to doing it daily understanding that even if you feel like it's not doing anything.... 100% IS!

Keep it up and over time you will start to see the results manifest into your reality.

4 Steps To Up-Level Your Life ✨4 Journal Prompts and Affirmations Inside✨

Spring is finally in the air! This is my favorite time of year. The birds are chirping and mother nature is in bloom.

This is also a great time to recommit to stepping into your greatness so that you can bloom too.

One of the ways you can do this is by getting clear on what you’d like to leave behind and what you’d like to call in.

Sometimes this can be confusing to figure out. Like what the heck do I actually want?? lol Trust me I get it, that's why I created the 4 journal prompts below to help you figure it out. 

Grab your journal, your favorite pen, a nice cup of tea or coffee and free write your answers with no judgment. Do not think about grammar, punctuation, or your penmanship. Just simply close your eyes, take a few big deep breaths in and write. 

Journal Prompts:

  1. What magical, amazing, wonderful things am I ready to bring into my life now?

  2. Who did I come into this world to be? (who am I helping, where am I, who is around me?)

  3. What or whom do I need to “KonMari” out of my life in order to get me closer to my dream life?

  4. Who do I need to bring into my life to help me finally achieve my dreams?

4 Steps to Up-Level Your Life and Follow Your Dreams Today


Step 1: Wake Up With Gratitude
Now that you know exactly what you’d like to bring into your life it can be really easy to accidentally slip into focusing on all the reasons why it won’t happen, why you can't do it, or why you aren’t good enough. 

This makes sense since our brain is wired to focus on the negative, meaning they have a tendency to focus on what we lack and who you aren’t instead of on who we are and what we have, let me explain.

It was very important for our prehistoric ancestors to focus on the lions, tigers, and bears that could eat them or the food that would be lacking next season. In other words, their survival was dependent on their brain focusing on LACK and LIMITATION and since it takes 1,000’s of years for the human species to evolve, your brain is still wired to focus on the negative, even though these threats to your survival no longer exist in the modern world.

This is why it is so important for you to really internalize and fully feel the gratitude of how amazing your life is. For the air in your lungs, because you can walk, because you live in a country where you are free to be, do, and have anything that you want.

Every morning, make a list or say a list out loud of 10 things you are grateful for so you can start to wire your brain to look at all the positives in your life instead of on the negatives.

Step 2: After Gratitude, Move to Positive Affirmations
This step is important for the same reasons as the one above. Listening to positive affirmation tracks is a super easy thing you can do to rewire the thoughts and beliefs you carry in your mind.

Most of us carry around a subconscious belief that we are not good, enough, smart enough, pretty enough, thin enough... FILL IN THE BLANK enough. Listening to positive affirmation tracks allows you to rewrite and replace these beliefs with positive ones.

If you prefer to recite them instead of listening (I recommend that you do both!) below is a list you can write down on sticky notes and place on your bathroom mirror or bedside table.

Step 3: Flip Your Focus From Negative to Positive (over and over and over again!)
Instead of focusing on who you are not, what you don’t have, and who doesn’t like you flip your focus on to who you are, what you have, and who LOVES you! Fear of judgment is one of the #1 reasons people give up on their dreams.

Step 4: Get An Accountability Partner (Or Better Yet, A Coach)
There is so much science showing the benefit of having an accountability partner or coach when it comes to achieving your goals.

KonMari Your Life and Mind Not Just Your Closet (Here's How) 💃💫

Hi my gorgeous friend, 

Happy Tuesday :)

About 3.5 years ago, 1 month before my mom passed away, I serendipitously discovered the book, The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up, The Japanese Art of Decluttering and Organizing by Marie Kondo.

Once I heard her method included organizing things into piles that bring you joy and those that don't, I knew I had to get a copy. 

This is something I had been recommending my coaching clients do for years. I just didn't say it as eloquently as Marie Kondo does lol. 

I read the book because I was interested in Marie's methodology. What I didn't know was that this book would help me tremendously when I lost my beautiful mother.

Just one month later, my sister and I found ourselves going through, and having to donate, most of our Mom's things after she passed away. 

Reading this book gave me the clarity and strength I needed to understand that my beloved mother did not live in her things. I would always have her memory no matter how many of her things I donated.

I was able to objectively ask myself, does this bring me joy? And if the answer was no, I put it in the donate pile. 

Ever since then, it's become one of my favorite books, for more reasons that one, as you'll soon see.

Marie Kondo now has a Netflix series that is taking the world by storm! I have even seen articles saying that places like GoodWill have been receiving an overflow of donations ever since the series aired! 

This got me thinking, what if people jumped on the bandwagon of ridding their mind and lives of the people, places, things, ideas, beliefs, thoughts, and self-talk that don't bring them joy with as much gusto as they do their closets?

This is actually a topic I have wanted to write about for years but I've been putting it off because it seemed so hard to articulate. 

As a matter of fact, in the middle of writing this blog, I realized that I just can't do it! lol. So instead, I got on camera and made a video so I could explain my thoughts about this to you verbally.

Achieve Your Goals Using Meditation (A How To Guide) 💫 🙏

Meditation is something I think most people have heard of and have maybe even tried once or twice… but then quickly gave up. 

Here the thing, I totally get it. It took me YEARS to understand how powerful meditation is for my life and achieving my goals.

(It is so powerful in fact, I do intuitively guided meditations for my clients live in every session tailored to their particular wants and needs. I also give them MP3 audio meditations to listen to in between sessions too.) 

The reason it took me so long to realize this is because it seemed soooooo hard. Like completely impossible for me to do.

Back then, every time I would try to meditate, within 5 minutes I’d start thinking...

“What is the point of this? My mind keeps racing! Clearing my mind is impossible. This works for other people but it just doesn’t work for me.” 

Man, was I wrong!

I now realize that back then I expected to be able to go from never meditating in my life to meditating like the Dalai Lama in 2.2 seconds. It simply doesn't work that way. 

Meditation is called a practice because it takes practice. You’d never sit at a piano and expect to play like Mozart if you’d never taken a lesson in your life right? 

Then why do we do this with meditation?

Keep reading below to learn the truth about meditating and also how to start implementing a practice into your life. It's time to start achieving your goals, Queen!

The Truth About Meditating
The neurology in your brain is very much like a muscle. The more and more and more you pump it the bigger, thicker, and stronger it becomes. 

When you meditate you are pumping your neurology just like you would your biceps in the gym. Every single time you do a “repetition” you strengthen your ability to quiet the mind, focus on your goals, reduce your stress, and increase your motivation. 

The most important thing to remember when you want to use meditation to reach your goals is the muscle analogy. You can’t do crunches once and expect a 6 pack right? 

Same with meditation. 

You can’t expect to do it once, then reach all of your goals, and become a powerful manifestor. The more and more and more you do it the more powerful it becomes and the easier it is to achieve your goals. 

How to Start Meditating
You wouldn't go from never running a day in your life on a Monday to running a marathon on a Tuesday right? Instead, you’d create a training plan and incrementally increase your mileage as your body began to get stronger and stronger. 

This is exactly the same way you should start implementing a meditation practice. Bit by bit. 

Below I have created a “How To” Guide to help you easily start a meditation practice in your life. 

Your Meditation Guide

  • Sit in a comfortable position, either on the floor in a chair.

  • If it is comfortable for you, place your hands on your lap with your palms facing up (this is a receptive position telling the universe you are ready to receive.) If this isn’t comfortable, place them wherever feels best for you.

  • Set an intention for your practice, this can be:

    • A prayer.

    • Asking to receive clarity around action steps.

    • Intending to create calm and peace in your heart and life.

    • Allowing the day to flow with ease and grace.

  • Close your eyes begin to focus on your breath, in through your nose, and out through your mouth. (allowing yourself to feel more and more relaxed with each and every breath.

  • When your mind wanders (and it will!) gently guide your attention back to the present moment and onto your breath. (You may have to do this many, many, many times but that is okay. Remember you are still in training. Clearing the mind only gets easier with practice.)

  • Do this practice for 6 to 7 minutes every day. (Everyone has 6 or 7 minutes right?)

After 2 Weeks, Introduce Your Goals

  • After about two weeks, extend your meditation time to 15 minutes and start to include a 5 minute period where you visualize your goals as if they have already happened.

  • Picture what you are doing, saying, wearing. Where are you? What action steps did you take to get there? Most importantly, how do you FEEL?

  • After another two weeks, you can try 30 minutes with 10 to 15 minutes spent on visualization.

  • If you miss a day, no need to beat yourself up. Just simply resume your practice the following day.

Through this meditation practice, you will develop the ability to stay motivated and locked on to your goals like you never have before. 

Law of Attraction
Having a daily meditation practice focused on achieving your goals is also one of the best ways to become a vibrational match to that which you are wanting to appear in your physical reality.

That means the only way to get more done in the same amount of time is to implement strategies that increase productivity.

I would like to introduce to you to the easiest productivity hack around. It’s called: The One Minute Rule.

I learned this rule from Gretchen Rubin, the author of The Happiness Project and Better than Before. Rubin says: 

“Anything you can do in less than a minute, do without delay.” says Rubin. “So, if you can print out a letter and file it. If you can look at a document and throw it away. If you can put your coat on a hook instead of on the back of a chair. Anything you can do in less than a minute, you just go ahead and do it.”

At first glance, this rule seems silly and like it wouldn’t make much of an impact but the truth is, it can create huge shifts in the amount of tasks you get done in a day.

I decided to do an experiment and implement this rule into my personal life for the last 4 days.

Why the Law of Attraction isn't Working for You (and How to Fix it) 💫 ✨

Hi My Beauty! 

Happy Tuesday! 

If there is anything about me you should know it is this, even though I am a former science based researcher and much of my coaching is based in hardcore, black and white neuroscience, I am also HELLA spiritual. 

I like to describe my coaching as a mixture of science and magic :) The magic part is what we will be focusing on today. 

The Law of Attraction is a subject that most people have heard of but very few know how to properly execute in their lives.

So many times when I meet with new clients they say:

“Stephanie, I learned about the Law of Attraction so I made a vision board, set goals, tried meditating, read a million self-help books, watched The Secret and….. Nothing has happened!” 

And you know what, I completely understand. I have been there soooooo many times in the past. 

There is one main problem getting in the way of people manifesting their dream lives. Here is the truth, the Law of Attraction doesn’t work for about 99% of people because they are out of alignment. 

In a very small nutshell, their conscious mind is not in alignment with their unconscious (or subconscious, I use them interchangeably) mind. 

For the sake of clarity, here are my definitions of the conscious and unconscious mind:

Conscious Mind: This is the logical part of your mind. The part of your mind that you are consciously aware of. What that means is you have to tell this part of your mind what to do. For example, you consciously told your brain to open this email and read it. In other words, it didn’t happen automatically or on autopilot like most of the things we think, believe, and say do. 

Unconscious Mind: This is the part of your mind that runs on autopilot. This is where your beliefs, self-talk, and values live. For example, you do not have to tell yourself, “you know what, today I’d really like to feel stressed and lacking in self-confidence.” We would never consciously tell ourselves something like that but it happens all the time. That is because this is running on autopilot subconsciously as do SO many of the things we do every day. Like showering, brushing our teeth, tieing our shoes, or even driving to work. 

There is so much more (like a lot more) to both of these concepts but these loose definitions will give you a little context to work with for the rest of this article. 

When you align what you do and think consciously (making the vision boards, setting the goals, reading books) with what is running on autopilot subconsciously (Your beliefs about what is actually possible in your life, what you deserve, how worthy you are, and your beliefs about who you are and what you were born to do.) Magic happens. 

When these two parts of your brain are not in sync (which is the case for most people) there is a misalignment in your vibrational energy and, therefore, the Law of Attraction simply cannot and will not work. 

So basically, whatever it is that you want: money, love, a new job, or anything else... it is not enough to write it down, make a vision board, watch youtube videos, read books, meditate, visualize, and wait for it to show up. This is only half the work.

The most important things you can do to create a life that you truly love is to have your conscious mind and the subconscious mind to line up and agree with one another. To have them be in alignment. THIS is the secret sauce. :)

Now you might be wondering, how the heck do I do that?

There are 1,000’s of things you can do to start to create positive shifts in your unconscious mind. Keep reading below to learn 3 simple strategies you can use to manifest more of what you want into your life (and less of what you don’t want!)

#1 Listen to Positive Affirmation Tracks
Listening to positive affirmation tracks is a super easy thing you can do to rewire the thoughts and beliefs that automatically occur in your subconscious mind. Thoughts like “I am not good, enough, smart enough, pretty enough, thin enough... FILL IN THE BLANK enough.” are holding you back from receiving that which you are wanting to appear in your life.  

Listening to positive affirmation tracks allows you to rewrite and replace these beliefs with positive ones, in turn, raising your vibration (which is another topic we will cover in the Mindset By Design for Her Private Facebook Group.)

Here is something you need to be aware of before you begin listening to or practicing positive affirmations. At first, your brain might doubt what you are listening to is true because many of the positive declarations will go directly against what you believe to be true about yourself for 10, 20, 30, even 40 years. #2 Set Intentions Daily
Two weeks ago we learned how powerful setting daily intentions are in the blog: Feel More Productive in Coffee Shops? Here’s Why (You can read it by clicking here

In this article, we learned that one of the reasons we feel so much more productive at coffee shops is simply because we set the intention for it to be and so that is exactly what happens.

In the book, The Intention Experiment, by Lynne McTaggart,  William A. Tiller, a professor Stanford University states, “For the last 400 years, an unstated assumption of science is that human intention cannot affect what we call physical reality. Our experimental research of the past decade shows that, for today’s world and under the right conditions, this assumption is no longer correct.”

As you can see, intention setting is very powerful and the best part is, it is easy to implement into your daily routine. Set daily intentions about what you will and won’t allow to run on autopilot in your unconscious mind each day. 
 
Below are some examples of intentions you can set for your day:
-Today I will choose to believe that I was put on this earth to receive greatly. 
-Today I will choose to believe that I am self-confident, capable, and worthy. 
-I am ready willing and able to take divinely guided action towards my dreams. 
-Today I will choose to believe I am strong enough, smart enough, and handle adversity well. 
-Today I will choose to believe that obstacles are actually roadblocks veering me in the right direction. 
-Today I will allow it all to be easy.

#3 Hire a Qualified Coach
While the strategies above will 100% provide you with results over time, the absolute quickest way you can change your subconscious mind in order to become a manifesting machine is to hire a highly qualified mindset coach.  I personally prefer to work with coaches who combined both spiritual tactics with science. (Which I am sure doesn't come as a shock to you. lol)

Here is what I can tell you for sure, what took me 10 years to cultivate in my life can happen for you MUCH quicker with the help of a coach. A coach is essentially a like a sherpa or guide who can help you trek up the mountain or through the jungle way more easily because they have been there before. They know the path and can guide you with the right systems, tools, and techniques.

Is Perfectionism Holding You Back From Success? 🙈🙅

Hello Beauty!

Years ago, when I had severe anxiety, was completely broke, lonely, and lost… I held myself back so much because I thought I had to be perfect in order to be worthy. 

I allowed perfectionism to stop me from going after my dreams. I thought I had to be perfectly thin, perfectly dressed, perfectly smart, perfectly skilled, perfectly well-spoken, perfectly *fill in the blank* in order to be successful. 

No wonder I was so scared to move forward! Can you relate? 

You know what's interesting? According to the latest research, perfectionism has been on a steady rise over the last 3 decades. 

Some experts believe this increase is due to the amount of time we now spend on social media looking at people's "highlight reels."

These posts only show people and their families on their best days, with the best angles, best lighting, best outfits, best makeup, best hair, cleanest rooms, and are usually filtered to death. 

Even though most people aren't posting the true reality of their lives, these highlight reel posts are having a negative affect on our mindset and what we believe we need to be, do, and have in order to be worthy. 

Here is the problem with perfectionism. It is holding people back from living their dream lives. 

So, what actually is perfectionism anyway?

The definition of perfectionism is: The refusal to accept any standard short of perfection.

This refusal to accept anything other than perfection can express itself in many ways. You can be highly critical of yourself and, in turn, others too.

This can put a big strain on our relationships. When we place such high standards and expectations on others it can cause them to feel as though they are constantly walking on eggshells.  

Perfectionism can also be caused or reinforced by how you were raised, where you work, who you hang out with most, where you spend your spare time (like Facebook and Instagram), and also your personality. 

Interestingly, people with higher levels of anxiety tend to suffer from perfectionism more so than those who are anxiety free. (Anyone else raising their hand?? lol)

One of the biggest reasons people struggle with perfectionism (and one that is very common in the beautiful women I have the pleasure of coaching is)… Fear of failure. 

This is really a mindset issue. People who have a deep fear of failure view anything less than perfect as a failure, therefore, they avoid taking chances or going after their dreams.

Basically, they hold themselves back from greatness over an unrealistic belief that they have to be perfect in order to be successful.

Perfectionism also causes another nasty habit… procrastination. (Another topic we will be covering in depth in the Mindset By Design for Her private FB Group,click here to join in on the conversation.)

When you feel like you have to be perfect, it can make it really hard for you to want to get started. As a matter of fact, it causes your brain to go into analysis paralysis. 

Luckily, there are a few simple strategies we can implement to stop perfectionism from holding us back from the success we want and deserve.

How to Release Perfectionism for Good in 4 Simple Steps

1. Test it Out
If you have lived most of your life as a perfectionist, transforming into a free-spirited “this is good enough” kind of person overnight isn't realistic. This is why it is smarter to start with baby steps. For example, you can send an email without proofreading it 20 times first. Or you can go to a networking event even if you feel like you don't have the perfect outfit to wear or the perfect thing to say, reminding yourself before each "trial run" that perfection doesn't exist. 

Once you get comfortable dipping your toes in the “this is good enough/I am good enough” water, it will get easier and easier to release your need for perfection more and more and more. 

2. Change Your Perception 
Perfectionists can often hold the bar so high for themselves that is hard to know what “good enough” actually is. If this is you, what you can do is think to yourself, what would I tell my coworker, friend, son/daughter, or loved one about this? Would you call them too fat to speak in front of a crowd? Would you tell them they weren't perfect enough to go after their dreams? Probably not. 

Understanding when it would be “good enough” for someone else can help you to determine whether or not you are starting to fall into perfectionistic tendencies.

3. Set Time Limits 
Perfectionism can cause you to do 2 things:

#1 Procrastinate and do nothing or
#2 Make you take WAY too long to complete things so nothing ever gets done.

I currently provide mindset coaching to a large group of high-level entrepreneurs in the health space. Everyone from chiropractors, naturopaths, doctors, and dietician who are all launching online courses and practices. Some of these practitioners launch in 3 weeks while some are 12 months in and still haven’t launched. 

This is why, every chance I get, I tell the people who are taking longer to put a time limit on all the work they need to do in order to get their program launched. 

For example, if it is taking them a whole day or even a week to complete one exercise that is a red flag that perfectionism is kicking in. When I meet with these clients I always recommend that they give themselves a time limit for each task and that is the same advice I want to give to you. 

4. Schedule Your Perfectionism
For some of us, having a high standard is just in our DNA which, as we now know, can be a hindrance to our success, however, there is are different instances when your high bar can be used in your favor. So for example, if there is a task that is very detail oriented, numbers based, or if you are doing a project for a client, this can be a great time to strategically allow your high standards to shine brightly.

The important part here is that you allow yourself to, at the same time, loosen up on other things and also implement the previous strategies above too. 

DONE > PERFECT
Here is the truth, there is no such thing as perfect. It simply doesn’t exist. So if we keep aiming for perfection we will get stuck staying in the same place, never moving forward. This is why done will always beat perfect every time.

Feel More Productive in Coffee Shops? Here’s why ☕💥

Hi my gorgeous friend! 

I am sitting here at Armature Works in Tampa, sipping on a Yerba Mate tea, typing this blog and thought… 

Have you ever noticed how you feel way more productive and focused when you work from a coffee shop? 

I know I seem to accomplish more in two or three hours at a coffee shop than I do in an entire day working from home.

It's important to point out that I usually drink decaf coffee and tea so it’s not because of the caffeine. 

So if extra caffeine isn't the reason why most people feel more productive and focused at coffee shops then what is it, and more importantly, how can we cultivate the same focus and drive when we are at home or in the office?

Keep reading to learn the 3 key reasons you are so much more productive when you work from a coffee shop and 3 strategies you can use to enhance your productivity no matter where to you are.

1. Your Brain Seeks Out Novelty
The human brain is constantly seeking novelty, in other words, your subconscious mind is always on the lookout for things that are new and exciting. This makes perfect sense when you consider that our DNA and brain are still wired the same as our prehistoric ancestors. These people were hunter-gatherers roaming the earth for 1,000’s years. They were rarely in the same place for more than a few weeks or months. Talk about living a novel life! Life for them was different on a daily basis. Different is what our brain is wired to seek out, so when we don’t have it, our brain gets bored and unmotivated.

Another reason your brain likes new and different things is because when you are presented with something novel, your brain releases the neurotransmitter dopamine AKA the “feel good” chemical. Recent studies show that dopamine doesn't just make you feel good, it is also closely tied to motivation. This explains why getting yourself into a new environment, like a coffee shop, enhances your motivation, creativity, productivity, and happiness. 
 

1a. How To Make This Work For You
Basically, when you get your butt out of the house or out of your usual working space your brain really likes it. You can recreate this by taking your laptop outside or by switching up your workspace. If you work from home, move away from your desk. Sit at the kitchen table, on the couch, in the spare bedroom, or on the patio. If you work in an office, take your laptop outside. If that isn't an option for you, switch up your desk. Move your seat to the other side or buy new pictures and plants to create a new fresh feeling for your brain.


2. Some Routines Reduce Productivity 
As we learned last week some routines can really enhance productivity.  Some routines, however, do the complete opposite. For example, if you get into a routine of getting sucked down the Youtube, Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter rabbit holes for hours every day instead of doing your work… that is a problem.

Just like unhealthy habits, unhealthy routines are easy to accidentally fall into but they aren’t as easy to stop. Our environment has a lot to do with our daily routines. For example, let’s say you’ve started a daily routine of going down the social media rabbit hole for hours every day and this new habit starts as soon as you sit on the couch or in the breakroom to eat lunch.

Basically this negative scrolling routine has been anchored (an NLP term used when neurology gets connected to a trigger) to your couch or breakroom. This means that the second you take yourself away from your couch or breakroom and into a new environment, like a coffee shop, that set of neurology won't loop and you’ll do work instead of getting sucked into social media.

2a. How To Make This Work For You
So if you have found that you have accidentally developed a negative routine that is draining your productivity you need to first acknowledge you have fallen into a negative routine. Once you admit it is a problem you can start to plan ways to break the pattern (which is really just looping neurology).

You can schedule in a cellphone-free walk, you can book in calls with friends and family, you can set an alarm to give yourself a specific amount of scrolling time before you have to put the phone away. If the routine, habit, or looping negative thoughts you have fallen into have become more than you can handle or break on your own, hire a coach you can trust to help you get you back on track and moving towards your hopes, wishes, and dreams. 

3. Your Intention, That’s What It’s All About
There is yet another reason why we feel so much more productive at coffee shops. It’s because we simply set the intention that we are going to be super productive before we head out. In other words, we make the conscious decision before we leave, “I am going to get a ton of work done today.” and so that is exactly what happens.

As you can see, intention setting is very powerful and the best part is, it is easy to implement into your daily routine. In the morning, before you start work you can set some intentions for the day. These intentions can be about anything from work, to how you want to feel, to your personal life. Below are some example of some of the intentions I have set for my day in the past: 

  • I will allow today to be easy.

  • I will understand that I am fully supported by the universe/divine/source/spirit.

  • I will choose to understand that everything (even the bad things) are happening in my favor. 

  • I will intentionally smile at strangers. 

  • I will count my blessing and say thank you often

  • I will fully clean out my email inbox today. 

  • I will complete all the forms for my dog's appointments. 

  • I will get half my taxes done today. 

As you can see there are many reasons why we are more productive in coffee shops. Now you have the knowledge you need in order to bring that increase in motivation with you everywhere you go. Pretty cool right?
