You know that feeling you get when you go to a networking event or when you are around a bunch of people you don't know?

Like you have to prepare a synopsis of all the amazing things you are doing in business and in life?

I used to feel like this all the time. 

Like I had to be so INTERESTING to be worthy. 

It was like I thought I had to EARN my place in the world. 

This put sooooo much pressure on me when I would go to networking events or just out in public in general. Especially when I had severe social anxiety. 

Now I understand that, in social situations, it is so much better to be INTERESTED rather than INTERESTING.

When you approach people with a smile and genuine heartfelt interest...in them, what they do, what they love, what their hopes wishes and dreams are...

It also allows the other person to let their light shine. This feels really good to both people. Win/Win!

This also releases the pressure of feeling the need to "perform" or "be on show" by telling everyone about yourself. 

This is the quickest way for you to build massive rapport with people too which is an amazing skill to have in business and in life. 

Finally, it is also important for me to point out that you were BORN WORTHY. You do not have to prove yourself to anyone. 

Simply being there, with the beautiful light and love you bring to the room, is enough to "earn" your place in the world. 

When you bring your full and best self, you are a gift and a prize to everyone you meet.

What THE NESSIE HUNTER taught me about belief

Meeting the "Nessie Hunter" (I'll get to that in a moment!) really made me think... 

Beliefs are funny things, aren't they?

To be honest, beliefs are actually something I think about a lot.

One of the main features of my coaching is guiding my clients to question their beliefs about what is possible for them in their lives. 

We question beliefs like...

  • I am not good at this or that.

  • I will always be broke.

  • I am not worthy.

  • I am not beautiful.

  • I will always struggle.

  • I am an anxious person.

  • I'm not good enough.

  • I am not smart enough.

  • That will take too long.

  • I don't do well with people.

  • I'm not good on camera.

  • Success is for others

  • I'm too fat, too old, too *fill in the blank*

  • The list goes on and on, and on, and on!

These outdated negative beliefs are what hold people back from greatness in so many ways. The bottom line is that our beliefs create our reality. 

I had a big lesson on the power of belief a few weeks ago in Scotland when I met...

That is 27 years!! Talk about dedication!

This guy gave up his whole entire life to live in a dinky RV right on the banks of the freezing cold Loch (see my video to see what this looks like first hand) because his belief in Nessie is so strong. 

Scotland is beautiful and so is Loch Ness, however, living in a tiny RV in this harsh environment is no walk in the park! He has to be freezing and lonely. 

Now, imagine what would be possible in your life if you had unshakable belief and faith in what you are capable of? You'd be unstoppable! 

Now let's flip it. 

What beliefs are you holding onto and putting so much faith and trust in that are actually NOT TRUE AT ALL? 

Are they keeping you stuck in a cold, harsh, lonely environment? 

What if you decided to change your mind?

What if you decided to believe the opposite?

What if you decided to make a different choice?

How would your world change?

If our beliefs create our reality, what reality are you creating?

Pretty interesting food for thought isn't it. :)

I STAY IN CASTLES AND TRAVEL THE WORLD HERE'S HOW YOU CAN TOO

I am back in Chester, England now, but exactly one week ago today I left for Scotland to go on the most amazing adventure. 

To say Scotland is magical is a total understatement. It is an absolute dream.

We spent most of our time in the Highlands, at the very top of the country. This meant I had little to no cell service for most of the trip. 

Which gave me a lot of time to reflect.

I found myself most often reflecting upon how completely different my life is now than it was 3, 5, 10 years ago. 

Talk about a 180-degree shift!! It's actually mindblowing.

Traveling the world with the love of my life, making my way through airports and train stations with complete ease, owning my own business, working from my laptop helping people live a life they truly love, giving presentations on stages to large groups and to huge companies, all with complete confidence faith and trust. 

Want to know how I did it?

  • I changed my mind about what was possible for me and what I could accomplish in my life. 

  • I changed my beliefs, my thoughts, and my self-talk from negative to positive. 

  • I invited in infinite possibilities.

  • I hired a coach. 

  • I surrounded myself with mentors and high vibe people. 

  • I gave myself permission to evolve and grow.

  • I decided enough was enough, put my foot down, and took major action to change my life. 

Was it easy? No

Was it worth it? 100% YES. 

Is this life available to everyone? I believe with all my heart, it is. 

If I can turn my life around, you can too. I believe this so much I have dedicated my life to helping others live a life they truly love, just like I have.

How to Overcome Social Anxiety

So, you know how there are some people who can walk into a room full of strangers (by themselves!) with full confidence? Able to strike up a conversation with anyone?

While others can hardly say hello to the mailman they've had for 10 years, let alone a room full of strangers.

For the latter, this uncomfortable "shyness" only gets worse in situations where they feel on display or when in group settings, like a workout class or a networking event.

For some people (like me!), this "shyness" can turn into debilitating social anxiety.

Can you believe I couldn't even leave my house at one point?

If the fear of stepping out into social situations is holding you back from doing great things in the world, please know, you are not alone. Far from it. 

The truth is, over 15 million people suffer with social anxiety in the U.S. alone, making it extremely common.

So what is social anxiety anyway?

People with social anxiety usually experience distress when:

  • They're introduced to new people

  • They feel teased or criticized (which feels as though is happening ALL THE TIME even when it's not.)

  • They're the center of attention (I used to hate this so much!)

  • Being watched while doing something (cringe!)

  • Meeting authority figures or anyone perceived as "important"

  • Most social encounters, especially with strangers

  • Going around the room (or table) in a circle and having to say something (more cringing!)

  • Interpersonal relationships (romantic, business, and friendships can all cause discomfort)

Social anxiety is, in a very small nutshell, the fear of being negatively judged by others.

This perceived judgment (which most of the time IS NOT REAL, watch the video for more on this) leads to feelings of inadequacy, inferiority, self-consciousness, embarrassment, humiliation, and sometimes even depression.

Here's the cool part, if I have been able to heal myself of this, you can too. It took my many years to figure out how to get a handle on, it and what to do to combat it. 

Below are the 4 main strategies I used to leave social anxiety in the dust (much more on all of these in the video):

  • Practice self-love and self-worth

    • When you truly love yourself and understand how worthy you are you feel comfortable anyplace, around anyone. YOU ARE A QUEEN. 

  • Release judgments of self AND others

    • The more we judge ourselves and others, the more we feel judged. Period. 

  • Get help

    • Whether it is a therapist or a coach, it is important to get help when the going gets tough. Remember, you are not alone. 

  • Finally understand you have some important gifts to set-forth in the world

    • I truly believe that each and every one of us was brought here to earth for a very specific and divine reason. It is your job to figure out what that is and to then confidently step out into the world and let it rip! (this is my favorite thing to help women do.)

The bottom line is.... you are supposed to feel comfortable and confident anyplace, anywhere, anytime and around anyone.

If you don't, that just means there are some things you need to take a closer look at.

Two Day Deep Cleanse Tips and Takeaways

The last two days have been very interesting for me. On the 30 day nutritional cleanse I am doing there are 4 days that are considered "deep cleansing" days. They are split up into 2 days falling on week 2 and week 3. During these days you do not have shakes or food. With that being said you do not totally starve yourself either. You drink a specially formulated drink. take supplements, eat specially formulated snacks and chocolate (yes, chocolate!) and, of course, drink lots of water. 

Basically, you are allowing your system to cleanse itself and giving your digestive system a break while also making sure your body has everything it needs to function, stay healthy, and hold on to your muscle mass. So even though you aren't really eating you are still getting the nutrients your body needs. 

Emotions

What was interesting to me about this deep cleanse is that, even if you are not hungry, when you take food away from yourself all these emotions come up. It is really strange! We are so accustomed to the ritual of preparing and eating food that when it is gone it leaves a void that is dying to be filled. I found myself sad, lonely, annoyed, and somber a few times during the cleanse but had no clue why! I took the time to explore these feelings and I discovered that food had become a companion, a confidant, a shoulder to cry on and when it is gone you are left to deal with your emotions head on, so that is exactly what I did. I wrote, meditated, prayed, worked out, and just like that, I felt so much better. 

Hunger

During this cleanse, for the most part, I didn't really feel hungry, however, there were a few times that I felt very hungry. The feeling of having a hungry belly felt so unbearable! Even though I knew I wasn't going to die I still felt like it was the worst thing ever. This got me thinking about discomfort. When I am cold I get a blanket or a sweater, when I am hot I put on shorts or lower the AC, when I am bored I read or watch TV, when I am hungry I eat. 

I think we as a society have become so accustom to running from discomfort that we can hardly tolerate even the slightest discomforts yet going through discomfort is how we grow and expand as people! Think about a muscle. To make it bigger and stronger you have to put stress on it, and you are the same way. The less discomfort and adversity we face the less resilient we become. This is the total opposite of what we should be striving for!

The other positive thing that comes from forcing yourself to be a little hungry for an extended period of time is that it allows you to get back in touch with what true hunger feels like. This is a sensation that we have lost touch with as a society because we have been taught to fear it and we have also been taught to mask it with caffeine & diet pills. We are also so used to eating much more food than we need so we never really feel actual hunger. I am happy that I felt hungry because now the feeling of food in my stomach feel much much much more satisfying. 

Here I am on the other side of my first ever 2 day deep cleanse and I can honestly say I feel so much better for having done it!! I feel accomplished and proud. I did it! (If you want to do it too or have questions message me here)

Takeaways 

  1. We all have an emotional connection to food (usually negative) and when it is taken away the emotions will bubble up. Expect them, sit with them, explore them, feel them, and let them go. 
  2. Discomfort is okay!! Discomfort helps us GROW! Anyone can be a little hungry for 2 days and survive. It is actually good for you to get back in touch with what real (rather than imagined) hunger actually feels like. It will only make you stronger!
  3. You have plenty of energy on your cleansing days. I worked out (moderate intensity) on both days and felt fine. No dizziness, nausea, or lethargy. 
  4. You will feel amazing when you are done! Clean, clear and confident. That is enough incentive to stick with it. 

Tips for the 2 Day Deep Cleanse

  1. Follow your cleanse day schedule! Make sure you get in all your drinks and snacks. 
  2. Expect to feel some discomfort but understand that it is temporary. There is no need to fear hunger. 
  3. Be prepared to feel emotional. I wasn't expecting this part. Have a notebook ready and write out what you are feeling to get your emotions out. Take care of yourself, go on a walk, take a bath, mediate, pray, practice self love. These feelings are also temporary. 
  4. Plan to workout just make it low to moderate intensity. 
  5. Drink tons of water! Water is your friend!
  6. Just know you will feel so much better when it is done. Any discomfort you feel will all be worth it.
  7. Stay busy! Make sure to plan your deep cleanse on days when you have a lot to do. It will make the time go by much quicker. 

Inches Lost

I just did my measurements and so far I have lost SEVEN inches off my whole body! I was shocked! I won't list out all my measurements but the one I was most shocked by was my neck! haha! I have lost .5 inches on my neck alone. Who knew I had inches to lose there?

After my mom's death and my subsequent rebirth I found myself spit out on the other side feeling extremely unhealthy, weighting more than I had in years, and unable to button my pants. I had spent so much time flushing out and detoxifying my mind that I had let my body go. I was eating out a lot (too tired and sad to cook) and was comfort eating. Letting myself go and overeating is something I have done in the past and I wanted to make sure I didn't let things go that far again.

They say that every ending is a new beginning and for me that statement couldn't be more true. On September 9th 2015 my beloved mother passed away. I had been dreading this day ever since she was diagnosed with cancer 4 years prior. I lost my father at a thirteen and it broke me. I worried that when it was time for her to pass on I would break again.
